A new study released by the New York Association of Convenience Stores threatens the pinnacle argument of tobacco tax supporters. Unfortunately for them, new data shows that New York’s exorbitant cigarette tax rates have hampered “taxable cigarette sales” while leaving overall demand for the product relatively untouched.
